(23,097 posts)Is he an Aussie? With the short little ears and long ear fur and abundant coat, he sure reminds me of that breed. If he's a different breed, please let me know. I studied dog breeds before we settled on getting an Aussie 2-1/2 years ago, there's so many great ones. I'd love to know where this beauty fit.

(5,420 posts)We looked into her genetic makeup and found out she is one half blue heeler, one quarter border collie and one quarter combination of golden retriever, austrian white shepard and alaskan malamute.
Shadow was rescued from a barn, one of a litter of ten puppies. Shortly thereafter the pups were listed for adoption online. We made connection and fell in love with her at first sight. She was called something else then and we decided to rename her because she followed us around closely, as though she were our shadow.
I appreciate your interest!

(23,097 posts)She is absolutely a winner in the genetics category. Since our dog is a genetic anomaly, born of pure bred parents but has a long fluffy tail, while the breed has little short stubby tails, that I've started paying a lot more attention to lineages.

(5,420 posts)Do you have a picture of your long fluffy tail dog?
Who is in the picture of your Avatar image?
Thanks.

(23,097 posts)Unfortunately, I don't know how to post pictures here, but imagine a big medium brown red merle Aussie shepherd with cracked blue/brown eyes, a pink nose and a long "red" fluffy tail. People have sometimes asked if he's a border collie mix because of his tail, but nope, didn't happen.

(31,989 posts)I love how you capture your pets personalities and interactions with their surroundings.
Maybe Shadow smells bacon and eggs on the stove for breakfast?

(5,420 posts)Thank You Diamond. Pets definitely have personalities (animalities?) and are quite sensitive to their surroundings. Like Sophie!
