I had gone out on my balcony to see the view and the clouds, and then my eyes lit on the moon!

The rest is history.

... that I can see the Moon with so much smoke in the air! I'm in Ohio, and the odor from the wildfires out West have been so strong that it seems more like most of the homes on my street had burnt to the ground instead!

It's an Olympus digital lens, 75--300mm.

It has superb image stabilization, which means that almost no matter how much my hands/arms shake, the photo won't!

The camera was hand-held and some post-processing with Paint Shop Pro was used on the photo.

I am thrilled with my results.

I went out to look at it about 11 pm. Too much light from street lights here to even think about getting a shot.

Light pollution is a problem. I'm sorry you didn't really get to see it well.
