Related: About this forumNew rumors? on the Nikon Z9.
Forgive the use of 'rumors' in the headline but there's not a lot of meat on these bones. There are three teaser vids that are available. First touts a fold out LCD for low and high angle shooting. In the words of Shania Twain, 'that don't impress me much. The second is more impressive; it teases long video recordings without overheating issues that (their words) 'plaque some competitor cameras.' High quality video takes processing power and that generates heat so if Nikon has overcome that it's a big deal. The OMD EM1X (big as a truck) uses two processors and had the same overheating issue which they solved with a low tech Heat Pipe technology; sorta like a radiator on a car. Finally and for me the most impressive is the autofocus improvements. The teaser mentions frame rate but no info on how many FPS, BUT it will apparently eye focus on fast moving athletes like tennis players, high hurdle and long jump athletes. Not only that but the tease shows the AF tracking a motorcycle in a pack of dirt bikes tracking the front wheel and focusing on the nearest headlight of a race car even shifting from right to left light as the car goes through a turn. Now THAT impresses me much depending on how it works in the real world. https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/uk/news/third-nikon-z9-teaser-trailer-focuses-on-af-system-and-incredible-frame-rate
In other news OM digital solutions have a major announcement scheduled for Oct 27. If this is a something less than the "WOW" camera I'll be, uh, upset.

(43,049 posts)working parts and you got "instaneous".
Don't ask what this will cost. Don't even think about it, but Hasselblad will be jealous.

(10,136 posts)The video heating problems were solved many years ago.
Videos are limited to 29 minutes due to EU tax laws. 30+ minute videos makes the camera a "video camera" and thus taxed at much higher rates than "still-image cameras".

(9,859 posts)...supposedly they've resolved the issue.

(10,136 posts)There is not really an excuse for that in this day and age.
Except for a lack of testing....
