The Canon looks like a good deal; compact, not-so-heavy, resistant to the elements and handy. George McGovern Feb 2022 #30

Grumpy Old Guy's advice on motor homes. He's seen a lot of beautiful places from one.

We did the Tacoma-Pullman run for 6 years while our kids were at WSU. Your scene reminds me a little of the Royal Range area. Lovely country.

Hoping to do a snowshoe at Rainier sometime in the near future -- there are avalanche safe routes around Paradise.

This was early June, 2021. Amazingly clear day. 4 volcanoes, Mt. Adams, Mt Hood, Mt St. Helens, and of course we were standing on a volcanoe

Front and center is the Tatoosh range.

Only weighs 10 oz. That image is a panorama, composed of 11 handheld shots in portrait mode. I've gotten pretty good at keeping the camera reasonably still and rotating it round the focal point (rather than sweeping it). I export the images at 50% scale, to 16 bit tifs and then use hugin to stitch things back together, so I end up with good resolution.

Unfortunately my rx100ii is on its last legs, so I've upgraded to a canon PowerShot G1 X Mark III, which has similar lens coverage, upgrades me from a 1" sensor to a APSC sensor, and the reviews on the lens sharpness are consistently highly favorable. It does weigh an additional 4 oz, but it is also dust / weather resistent. I'll be playing with it this season!
