With that in mind, I opened one of my raw files and took it into the digital darkroom. I had already created an interpretation years earlier. After I was finished working on the raw file this morning, I opened the first print file to compare how they differed.
Just a side note: When I took the original I had a softening filter on the camera.

After seeing what I did this morning I was amazed. Critiquing the two, I was not happy with the dodging and burning on the first print. Blocked shadows on the right and blown out highlights. I also enjoy the increased contrast in the today's attempt. The shadows on the right side of the house just pop and the detail on the doors is much better.

(16,390 posts)May I ask where this was taken? I am fascinated by the building in the left background and dying to know where/what it is.

(1,576 posts)It was morning and the building in the background is a hotel ... the Riu. The gleaming white edifice in contrast to the simple "Cunucu house" really caught my eye.
