1. Though I run down to France almost once a week

I haven't been back to Aix in almost 40 years. I hope it hasn't changed much.

3. I studied at the Universite d'Aix-Marseille 30 years ago and haven't been back since.

Agree 100%, what a great town. I need to get back soon.

4. It's changed in a lot of ways.

The Rotonde is no longer a rond-point. And only taxis, delivery vans, and small buses can go up the Cours Mirabeau. The Trois Places is now completely pedestrian.
And in 2019, Deux Garcons burned. It's being restored.

6. You know, maybe some long weekend...

Maybe Frau DFW and I might do just that! It’s just an hour from MRS, and there are—or used to be!—direct flights from here.

Sorry to hear about the Deux Garçons, but glad to hear it’s being rebuilt. You CAN’T let an icon like just vanish.

There's even a Bar PTT in town. Really just an 'old guys' bar, but a good one.
