Kevin is going to CA. Russell wants to adopt a baby. I missed what Kate said she wants to do.Did anyone get that?
It said there are good and bad decisions. I assume Kevin made the wrong decision.
Anyone take a guess on how Jack will die?
I'm trying to remember how old the kids look at the funeral.
I have read that the cause of his death will be a shocker.
It's likely not an illness. After last night I doubt it will be drunk driving.
Are they giving subtle clues?
Kate says it was her fault.
He is killed in a fight defending Kate?
I was thinking "shocker" . He gets on a plane. It's 2001.....( the kids would be about 20. )
But Kate has his ashes....

(22,340 posts)However he dies, it's going to suck.
It was the high school actors playing the kids at the funeral. Suppose they could be in college since we haven't seen them that age yet.
I have high hopes for how he dies. (Well, that sounds bad, but you get it.)
Kate has an urn with what they call his ashes. Jack seems totally like a guy that would attack the terrorists on one of the 9-11 planes. Maybe he was flying out to help Kate with something. I really think it is going to be plane related. Kate completely lost her shit on that plane. And Kevin destroyed all of his model airplanes he made with his dad after Jack's death. Or that's all a misdirect.

(4,178 posts)I didn't remember about the planes.
I read a review that came to the same suggestion. His death will be 9/11 related.
Don't think it will be revealed till the series finale which is years away,

I asked why she thought we would. She said the lead up was just manipulation. I say, "Hey, the whole narrative structure is manipulation (I'm an English teacher). Why did you think this would be any different? It's a slow ride. Just enjoy it."
She didn't appreciate that.

In season one we get, "My mother is married to my dead father's best friend."
In season two we get Jack's funeral, where the kids are teenagers. We get Kate not able to talk about her father's death, then promising her fiance that she will tell him about it and not doing so.
Then Kate is saying she's ready to tell him and that her father's death death was all her fault, apparently because she made him go to Cleveland.
Then the season ends and he isn't dead yet. Instead, we go even further back to how they met.
The writers are more interested in fucking with us than they are in telling a story. Even my wife, who totally loves the series and everyone in it, is starting to get annoyed. I am getting seriously pissed off.
UPDATE: Okay, right, this is the end of the first season. It only seems like it's been going for two seasons, which says something in itself.

(22,340 posts)She just didn't tell us.
All storytelling is manipulation. I bet we don't learn how he dies for several seasons.
