Roddenberry's "Wagon Train in Space" has sure expanded from the original concept.

The little I watched of "Discovery" it seemed to be "another" multi-verse, introducing new versions of the same old things. This may be "Star Trek's" essence of popularity, but "DS 9" remains the most innovative "ST" series to my mind since the original.

Maybe after all these decades we DO get a bit jaded.

DS9 did not get the respect it deserved because it was the first series that was an epic rather compartmentalized episodes and because either TNG or Voyager was running concurrently. When I signed up for CBS All Access I decided that DS9 would be the first of the earlier series to binge watch again.
