Related: About this forumAm I the only one who thinks Westworld is the best show on right now, full stop?
I'm current on S2 and just finished rewatching S1...and my brain is even more melted than before. Mind you, when I say "best" I don't mean "entertaining", but the most challenging, thought provoking, and rewarding.
I also happen to think Blade Runner 2048 is the "best" movie I've seen in twenty years, but Thor Ragnarok was much more "entertaining".
So, any of y'all bother with WW?

(4,758 posts)MiB isn't a host, but Ford is up to something that I'm not sure what, I'm sure iot involves the Valley Beyond and the synthetic consciousnesses they're building there. Dolores is what she is, but I like Maeve SO MUCH more and hope she makes it...and that's ignoring the tips I get from the Delos websites and their AI chat bot Tes..

(7,820 posts)I actually am still open to the idea that Emily was. Poor Teddy 😕 Will Maeve be the one to have to stop Clem? We still have the hosts in the lake mystery to deal with. Also, Maeve needs to reconnect with Hector, the Armisti, and Felix & Sylvester. And there will be some kind of Ake/Dolores showdown i bet. Its a supersized finale- which is good cause lots of ground to cover yet.

(4,758 posts)Last season we had the "OMG Bernard is a host" bit, anybody else being android at this point would be a cheap out IMO.
I am terrified Maeve may not make it. I would be legitimately upset if she doesn't survive I expect the posse to show up at some pint though.
For sure on the Ake/Dolores battle, he isn't calling her the Deathbringer for nothing!

(102,331 posts)feeling like I was watching a western "Truman show" equivalent, which was a cute movie, mind you, but didn't engage me as a premise. I usually love HBO shows, and admittedly Sci Fi is not my favorite genre (with some exceptions)....
So honestly, at what episode in season 1, were you "hooked"? I don't think I made through the second episode before feeling bored?
My opinions only--not criticizing others who love it, but just wish I knew why?

(33,643 posts)I'm almost caught up ...
I have my doubts about Ford really being gone but he's not re-appeared yet so don't tell me.

(16,104 posts)the future of humanity - if we are to have one at all - will be in the artificial shells depicted in West World, Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell, HUMANS...
In this context, these shows are great at depicting the moral, ethical and practical questions we will soon be facing for real.
Sky Net terminators, the Matrix, Her are other real alternatives.

(9,287 posts)And I like the fact I have two AI shows to watch. Humans is really well written and acted. But I love the acting in Westworld and the budget is much higher than Humans and it shows.
This Sundays Westworld did blow my mind. I read an interview with Ed Harris on HuffPo and it was hilarious. He has no idea where the script is going so he is like us. He watches it with his daughter who keeps him up to date on the plot.
Blade Runner 2048 was very good too.

(32,727 posts)I kept losing track of which episode I was on because so many episodes start the same way, so rather than watch from the beginning, I gave up.
I'm actually watching another AI series called Humans...it comes on AMC. Severely behind on that series as well.
