2. I saw it some time ago and there was a documentary that told the real story of what came later...

I'd guess it will be available in the US soon too. I think when the series final ran in the UK, it followed the same or the next night.

It was a great show based on a real story and the follow-up was very much worth the viewing.

6. With WW II on the horizon, and with the series being (loosely) based on the few years

the Durrells spent in Corfu, I knew from the beginning that it was going to end, and to some extent how it was going to end, even without having read the books (which I haven't).

But I agree, wonderful series.

7. You should get the book "Amateurs in Eden"

It is the story of Nancy and Lawrence Durrell. It was written by Nancy’s daughter Joanna Hodgkin.

In it she talks a lot about their time on Corfu.

The story of Durrells in Corfu was written by the brother that raised the animals. Lawrence was the older brother who was a writer. He and Nancy were married for 9 years and spent a lot of time in Paris.

Their picture is on the cover.
