Meghan McCain Calls for Biden Administration to Replace Dr. Fauci: 'He Doesn't Understand Science'

“The View” co-host Meghan McCain has lashed out at Dr. Anthony Fauci and the Biden Administration’s vaccination rollout. “I’m over Dr. Fauci,” a frustrated McCain said on Monday’s show. “I think we need to have more people giving more opinions and honestly quite frankly, I think the Biden administration should remove him and put someone in place that does understand science or can talk like these other countries about how we can be more like these other places that are doing this successfully.”

McCain’s comments came during a frank discussion between the co-hosts centering on COVID-19 and the fact that the U.S. is reaching a record breaking number of half a million deaths since the virus began ravaging the country almost a year ago. McCain doubled down on her feelings on Fauci’s removal after the show finished airing, posting a tweet that declared “Many of you can keep worshiping at the alter of Fauchi. I’m not a phony — I will not go on TV and lie and say one thing privately and another on the air. This is my opinion. We need someone else in charge of coronavirus messaging and leadership.”

McCain quickly came under fire for her comments, as well as for expressing outrage when she complained about “the fact that I, Meghan McCain, co-host of The View, don’t know when or how I will be able to get a vaccine because the rollout for my age range and my health is so nebulous.”

Meghan McCain attended Columbia University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in art history in 2007.

Anthony Fauci: In 1958, Fauci attended the Jesuit College of the Holy Cross, graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in classics with a pre-med track. Fauci then attended medical school at Cornell University's Medical College (now Weill Cornell Medicine) where he graduated first in his class with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1966.[6] He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center (now Weill Cornell Medical Center).[5]

Career
In 1968, Fauci joined the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a clinical associate in the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation (LCI) at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).[12] In 1974, he became head of the Clinical Physiology Section, LCI, and in 1980 was appointed Chief of the Laboratory of Immunoregulation. In 1984, he became director of NIAID, a position he still holds as of 2021.[4] In that role, he is responsible for an extensive research portfolio of basic and applied research on infectious and immune-mediated illnesses.[12] He has turned down several offers to lead his agency's parent, the NIH, and has been at the forefront of U.S. efforts to contend with viral diseases like HIV/AIDS, SARS, the Swine flu, MERS, Ebola, and COVID-19.[13]

He played a significant role in the early 2000s in creating the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)[14] and in driving development of biodefense drugs and vaccines following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.[15]

Fauci has been a visiting professor at many medical centers and has received numerous honorary doctorates from universities in the U.S. and abroad.[16]
