Related: About this forumI've come to the conclusion that Mad Men now sucks.
I loved it. I started watching it back in 2007 after about the 3rd episode created a lot of buzz. I just ran across a highlight trailer from 2009, and man! it was so much better then.
I really couldn't give a crap if Meagan got hit by a bus next episode. They should just get back to business (and bring back Kinsey and Sal)

(4,851 posts)This show is better than ever, and that is saying something since it has always been top ten shows of all time for me. I think it has changed, but the country had a little bit of change from the late 1950s to the second half of the 1960s. Don is aging and the rookies in that first season, those that have survived, are coming into their own. It went froma show where the quirkiness of the late 50s was a character to a show where the uneasiness of the nation in the mid-late 60s is a driving force impacting them all. Megan is 60s woman, hear her meekly meow. But her and Peggy's actions like telling her husband she is following her dream and its one that does not involve kids or fixing his dinner, Peggy essentially telling a client that he is an idiot, are the things that will set up their roars soon enough. Times are a changing and Mad Men is getting hit with it in the face. I adore this show.

(103,856 posts)There is now stress in the series because this was a TIME of stress. In the beginning, the protagonists were men home from war just a few years..all in their prime, in an exciting time of plenty.... and now the younger crowd is moving in..taking over.
The main characters are aging..their kids are grown or growing up fast. they see their own time passing, and society is starting to spin out of control.

(7,120 posts)I still look forward to the next episode, but feel a bit let down when it's over. Nothing can compare with the first few seasons.
This seems to happen with most of my favorite shows- Sopranos, United States of Tara- they start out with a great concept, and then gradually wind down to a squeaking nub.
