(6,674 posts)My wife started watching Kim's Convenience and said it's good enough to keep going, so that may be my next series.

(64,833 posts)heard lots of good things about it, but from what I can gather you have to be in Canada to watch their TV.

How many seasons in are you?
Season 5, episode 8, "Classical Gas" has a "brother" of Brent's show up. He was an African child they adopted and who went on to medical school and is now in Dog River to meet his "parents". Brent of course never knew anything about him. Great episode.
Here's the very best part. After I watched it, I sent an email to a friend -- we went to high school together, she's Canadian and lives in the Vancouver area -- and told her how much I'd loved that episode. The actor who plays the brother is her son! Wow. That's my second favorite small world story.
I am not even sure I'd ever mentioned to my friend that I was watching the series before this.

However, don't bother with the separate movie they made, because it is honestly not very good.
