Survivor Caramoan - Episode 12 Discussion Thread - NO SPOILERS PLEASE

If Eddie wins this thing, I am going to be so pissed off. I think the editing is starting to lead that way. But last night was another GREAT episode. I do not think I have EVER felt so bad for someone voted off. Brenda was so nice. She really was a huge threat for being such a wonderful person and such a good player, but it sucks for her to have to go like that. I also think that the episode clarified that it is Dawn and Cochran to the end. the little comments edited in notwithstanding. Those two are going to the finals together unless someone else votes one of them out. They are not going to turn on each other.

Anyway, this was the Family visit episode. After seeing Erik freak out a bit (that guy is strange and I am starting to think he might not be able to win at all), tree mail has the newest sprint phone and the video of family. when they arive Brenda gets to see her dad first. Probst cries and even I got a little tear in my eye. The challenge is fun and Brenda and her dad win. She is told she can choose one other survivor and her loved one to join them and Brenda quickly chooses Dawn. Jeff tells them that for the first time in Survivor history they have two loved ones each in camp. Jeff offers Brenda a day with her second family member and the same for Dawn, or she can forfeit it and give it to the rest of the camp. Brenda gives it to the others, which seems to piss off Dawn.

After a cool meal on a boat, they say goodbye to the family members. Less strategy thalk this time than in other seasons, but Cochrane' mom tells him Brenda will win. Next is IC time. Its the old hang with your hands behind your back and Jeff lowers you into the water. Everyone tells Jeff that Eddie is goign if he loses. Cochran is the first to go into the water but Eddie soon follows and everyone seems happy. Dawn and Brenda are the last two and Dawn tells Brenda that Eddie is out, but she really wants to win one. Brenda says that she wants to keep going, but Brenda falls soon after this. Dawn wins her first immunity.

I think Brenda's mistake was telling Dawn that she wanted Eddie now and Cochran next. Cochran gets Shari to say that Brenda should go. It is so fun to watch how he gets others to feel like they are makign decisions, but he was guiding her all the way into that call. Then he mentions it to Dawn. Cochrane knows that it will only take three votes to do it, why take the chance of getting Erik or Eddie involved since there is more of a chance they might blab. Shari and Dawn are on board with it, so it is a done deal. Eddie will vote for whomever he wants, The three go to Brenda and Erik and Brenda vote for Eddie. Unless Eddie votes for himslef, there is no tie. Tribal is boring for a change except for Eddie saying he is goign hom and Jeff telling him he keeps sayign it, but he is still there.

In the end, Brenda is CRUSHED by this. I have never seen someone so sad. She just looked like Dawn stepped on her heart. She cried, told them that she was always honest, and she left sobbing. It broke my heart. Part of me wanted her to pull this off, but the game is clearly Dawn and Cochran's to lose. They may have pissed off Erik, but they have to let him know that they are final four and may the best one win. They take out Eddie or Erik next, and hopefully the other at the final 4 IC. Erik and Eddie have to win IC to get to the end, and Cochrane knows if he or Dawn lose the IC, he can go at any monent. I swear, if Eddie wins two in a row, he wins this thing, and that is just crazy. Sunday is the Finale, make sure you all watch on Sunday. See yo all Monday to talk about it.

1. It was painful but she was thinking with her heart and not her head...

as nice as it was to let the others see their loved ones, what would have been the repercussion if she had told them she just could not do that to Dawn? She could have used Dawn as her reason for not giving it up to them. Would they really have blamed her for something any one of them could have won themselves?

8. Brenda wasn't aware of how connected Dawn was to Cochran & that, together, those two

would ensure Brenda's safety if Brenda had made the other decision. Sherri, who would also have been left out & back at camp with the others, would follow Dawn's lead at tribal council.

Brenda would have been better off if she had opted for Dawn & herself to take the reward. She would have had Dawn, Cochran, Sherri, & Erik behind her.

2. Not a fan of the family episode...

...I think it is deliberately emotive, ridiculously staged, and very trite...It's the only time I really get annoyed at these people that are "suffering" in order to try and win A MILLION DOLLARS!!! (What about the MILLIONS of people that live on even less EVERY SINGLE DAY???!!!! - *rant over*)

I am amazed that Brenda, who has played a very savvy game up to this point, didn't even seem to conceive of a blindside against her coming right on the heels of a blindside against Andrea. Dawn was ALWAYS going to vote for Brenda, you could see it in her eyes at the end of the challenge before Brenda fell in....

I was not a fan of Brenda the first go around, she was conniving and manipulative, this time, as she said, she played humble....and in the end it cost her...I have voted for her to get the fan fave $100k

I think it will come down to either Eddie or Eric (they are both real threats at the challenges and with immunity that means the remaining faves get voted off), I just hope it isn't Dawn. I think she is a screaming god-bothering hypocrite and her incessant drama drives me up the wall.

Can't wait for the finale!!

finding her annoying now. I don't feel as strongly as you, but I would likewise not be pleased if she wins. I think its goign to be Cochrane unless they vote him out next. I think the other four all know eddie gets Malcolm's and Reynold's votes and probably andrea's vote, so going against him is an uphill battle and just one vote flipping his way is hard to beat. So they all have to get him out. I used to think Erik was the winner, but he seems so crazy, I am not sure anymore. I really think Cochrane played the best game this year, but he is going to have to win the final IC to get there because if he does not, Shari and whomever is left is going to vote him out to take Dawn to the finals with them.

Sprint gets a lot of promos on Survivor, including the "vote for your favorite" hype.

They are one of the main sponsors of the program. I love it, since it keeps the show on the air. Once they can't get sponsors, this show is done.

7. The family reunion episodes are my least favorite episodes each season
Thu May 9, 2013, 08:33 PM
May 2013

for the same reasons you described.

Last night, my husband & I coped by overdubbing the initial reunion scenes of those we didn't like. We noticed, also, how Dawn sobbed so dramatically & uncontrollably as she hugged her husband; then, when he had to take his place with the other family members, Dawn abruptly stopped crying & appeared gleefully euphoric in the next second, like a light switch suddenly turned on in Dawn's head.

Those who take part in "Survivor" know that they are going to be away from their families for months. And it's not FOREVER. If they can't hack it emotionally, I wish they'd stay home. They're not "Survivor" material.

10. Oh those episodes deserve a rant lol

I sometimes wonder if producers of these shows think we are all emotional people who need to see a "good cry". Ugh! You're so right! You chose to leave! It's only 40 days!! I've seen soldiers reunions with families with less sobbing!!

But yea, Dawn annoying. Eric got odd. I hope Cochran wins. If Eddie does, it's crazy.

Dang!! I figured Brenda would be upset, but "if it weren't for the finale I'd probably never talk to her again"....Ooops...sounds like Dawn just lost someone that was her closest ally...the final tribal will be interesting if Dawn makes it there...

6. I dislike Dawn for her obviously spiteful vote, but, frankly, Dawn has been annoying me for awhile.

She's either a drama queen with her crying jags or she's not emotionally equipped for this game; I think it's the latter.

I believe Dawn's foremost purpose in voting Brenda off was not because Brenda had ingratiated herself with her "reward" decision, but as a punishment for that decision, which denied her to participate in the reward. Dawn's behavior back at camp with Brenda was very immature & petty.

On the other hand, I'm pulling for Cochran & it was Brenda who brought up the idea to Dawn that Cochran go the week after Eddie, so I wasn't upset that Brenda was voted off, just in how & why she was voted off.

11. Agreed. I think she held it against her

and just like you said above, Brenda should have just kept the reward for herself an Dawn.

Why was Dawn even considered a favorite? I guess they just couldn't find enough people to come back!

True it was easy to dislike Coach that season, so I think that might have helped. I agree that Dawn held that against Brenda, but Brenda made the mistake of saying too much. Instead of saying I think we should vote cochran off next, you always ask others, who do you think we should vote out tonight and consistantly tell everyone you want to go the end with them and that you have their back.

15. For most of the "favorites", I thought the casting crew were scraping the barrel!

Dawn isn't going to win this, imo. If she ended up in the finals, I don't think she'll get one vote. Who would want to give her a vote after Brenda tells them about her crying jags; particularly, how she dove into the water to find Dawn's retainer because Dawn was totally helpless & could do nothing but fall apart. That's not "survivor" material.

But that's how I see Dawn as well. She's unstable. I don't think she's that smart just fearful and she rides with Cochran. I wouldn't vote for her no matter who is comes down to at this point.

on the CBS site or on youtube. The booted survivors are projecting their votes pretty clearly. Cochran has it in the bag if he makes it to the end.
If you haven't seen these, it makes you like all of them a lot better. Even Phillip seems sane and nice.
