Survivor Blood v. Water Episode 8 thread - No spoilers on future episodes please

I truly enjoyed last night's episode. It was filled with very good play by several people, and a VERY bad move that I am sure doomed 4 players. I think Tina's insanely bad decision to tell Monica that she was at the bottom of their alliance will doom her and her daughter, and caused the ouster of Aras, who was in her alliance.

But before we get there, we finally said goodbye to John. The first victim of Brad's bad play. If only Brad did not turn on John and ousted Ciara, how different this game would look. Oh well. So onto Redemption Island for the last time (actually, it seems I was filled with false hopes and we are back there again, but I was excited because I thought this was the end of this crapfest). The duel wa easy, hang on a pole. Once it started I told me wife that John was done. Wrong body type for this. He went fast. Mrs. Rupert went next. Loved ya, but we all knew you needed to go.

Laura won the immunity idol clue and throws it in the fire. Dumbass. That idol is going to be HUGE at some point. Then she gets all crazy with Ciera, who has to calm her mom down. Laura seems to want to work with Aras, while Ciara knows he has to go. Aras and Vytas are planning their path to victory. Then we see a GREAT play. Tyson finally decides it’s time to go get the idol. It was not hard to find. He has it, and I feel it will be HUGE when the time is right to use it. Great play by tyson.

Then we have the first individual immunity challenge. Its a memory game, like Simon the computer when I was a kid. It gets down to Aras, Vytas and Gervase, but G loses and its just the brother. Vytas wins and is safe at tribal, plus he got to beat his brother, so that is good. Aras and Vytas are both sure they control everything. Gervase is makign some good points about how to handle the voting. Its clear it will be Aras, but just to keep it interesting, Survivor twists it makes you think Laura and Ciera and stayign with Tina. WRONG.

So Aras goes home. Wait, no he doesn't. He is back on RI. NOOOO!!!! I thought it was done. Damn. I guess we have to deal with more of those silly duels.

Great episode. I truly think Tina cost her and her daughter the game, and doomed Aras. When they were talkign to Monica, I thought they had it locked up. If they kept Monica in their five and just said final five. then Tina went to her privately and said, I want it to be the girls in the end, so lets make a pact of you me and my daughter, may the best woman win, and we can take out Ara and Vytas when we need to, but for now they can win some of those ICs and let us pick off Tyson, Gervase, Hayden and the other big guys. Terrible move. Never let someone thin you are not their choice for the finals. Monica simply found the better deal. With the others, she can probably get to final 3 with Tyson and Gervase and so many dislike Laura and Ciera, that there are other who they can target in the alliance before her. I think Monica made a brilliant more that should keep her in power and tina made a blunder of a move that will doom her.

I did not realize redemption island would continue. Man!

Honestly, now that Kat is gone, this is a fairly smart group. So much better without the whiny Colton!

Yeah, I have never understood the need to inform others of their rank on the totem pole. Nothing makes somebody turn faster than when they realize they are four or five on the list. The good players make everyone feel like they are in the final all the way!

...I just wish the producers would get away from the concept...once you're voted out, you should be out, period.

I too didn't understand Tina's revelation of Monica's place on the pecking order...it immediately puts that person on alert to try and get a better deal...

It will be interesting to see if Sierra throws her mum to the wolves, she sure looked like it in this episode, but it will depend on if Laura M. can dial things down a notch.

At this stage of the game the weaker players should be trying to lay low and let the powerbrokers try and blindside one another...whether they will or not is why we all watch the show...

This season continues to improve, especially as the first few episodes were fairly dire, no clear indication yet of who wins this, but Tyson and Vytus are definitely the two biggest movers and shakers now that Aras has gone...for now...

considering how bad he messed up Rob's plan to oust Russell many years ago and how dumb he played his first time, I thought for sure he was done for. But he has impressed me more than most. Vytas had me until last episode and he got cocky. You should always think they are after you and your alliance. Had he and Aras played better, they might still be here. Oh well.

Unless they are editing out the plan building to get him out to make it more of a shock, I think if he keeps playing the low-level game he has and not get too cocky, he should be fine.

This year has some good stories.

1) Monica and overcoming her husband's bad play,
2) tyson overcoming past mistakes and learning from them,
3) Gervase coming back from a long time away from the game and playing a much smarter game
4) Vytas overcoming his demons and playing a brilliant game.
5) Ciera and her growing up and away from her mom

Based on editing, I think one of these is the winner. I would love to see it be Gervase, but I think he will have a hard time beating the rest. I just like the guy. They would make a great final 5. But it seems like we never get anything good like that for the last episode. I bet we get one of the strong pairs and some weaker players.
