Survivor Blood v. Water Episode 10 thread - No spoilers on future episodes please

Not a great episode, but its setting us up for a few great episodes I think. It was seemingly a surefire ouster for Katie, and she managed to survive. But I loved that Monica seemed to divert a lot of attention from herself, then won another IC to protect herself. We learned that Ciera is a decent player and as cutthroat as hell with her mom. All in all I liked it, but not even close to as great as this season has offered.

We start with RI. Its the old throw a rope and grappling hook to pull bags to them, then do the ball in the maze and not drop it. Tina rocks stage 1, but gets slow on the maze and falls through near the end. This gives Vytas the opening he needs and he gets his ball in the center, wining one of the two spots. Tina beats Aras, the first member of the jury.

Vytas gives the idol clue to Katie, who actually keeps the clue. YES! About time! Katie is glad Tina is still in the game, but she needs to find the idol. She has a map and drawing of the tree, so she is sure to find it, but its not there.

Then the best part of the episode goes down. Ciera straight out tells her mom that if her mom were not in the game, Ciera feels she could get to final three at least and that her mom would have to win every competition from now to the end to win. Laura took it well, saying that as a player it sucked, but as a mom, she was proud. Tyson tells Ciera that her mom might be the one, which was more brilliant play by Tyson. He really is playing well.

The IC has a cool reward too, hotdogs and cheeseburgers. Its the old hang from a rope off the pier IC. As usual, the bulky guys go first. Hayden, Caleb and Gervase go quickly, but then Ciera goes and I wonder if that was not a thrown IC for her, so she did not have to deal with her mom and the idea of keeping or sharing immunity. Laura and Katie go down but Tyson and Monica are holding on. I think the same thing for Tyson. He seemed to be putting on a pain show. Tyson splashes and Monica wins immunity. Then something fun happened. Monica is told to share her food with one person, and instead of pissing people off, she says, let the others all eat it and she will pass on everything. I think it was a good move by Monica as it did not disclose any alliance she has. It seemed a little forced, but that is okay for her. She still has to want all of them to think she is in final three with each of the pairs left. That is her best play.

Also have to give props to Ciera for her play on gettign Katie to admit she has no idol. She played her great. She basically talked to Katie, who says that she is still going to play the idol just in case. Ciera lies and tells her that she knows Katie doesn't have it because Ciera has it. Katie folds and says, I know. at TC, it went as planned and Laura has to go.

Next week is a good duel. I am hoping Tina goes because I like Vytas and want to see Laura back in the game, but we will see.

...Ciera was quite the revelation in dealing with her mom....I think this is Tyson's to lose at this point...he has played it masterfully up to this point...the question is...can he keep it going...Caleb and Hayden ( I think??) are just along for the ride, at this point I think it will come down to Gervase and Tyson if he doesn't get blindsided...

If Tyson smells out the blindside and uses the Idol at TC all bets are off....but we'll have to see how honest the teaser edit for next week was...

Definitely one of the better seasons, even with the wretched redemption island..

I agree on Caleb and Hayden. They seem useless and are going to be ousted unless they get Tyson or Gervase out next week. I think the wild card is Monica. If she gets to the end with anyone but Gervase and Tyson, I think she wins. I think the best overall final three would be Tyson, Gervase and Monica. I think Tyson would have the advantage, but its possible people would hate his cocky attitude and give the votes to someone else. Monica can win this if she is there at the end. I think the only one who beats her is Tyson.

This has been a fun year.

I think he is really playing well this time, but it will be interesting to see how he acts in the next few shows. If he starts getting cocky (or cocky-er!) and alienating the others, he might cut his own throat if he makes it to FTC. I suspect the teaser that looks like he might get blindsided is misleading, but I guess we'll see. (I have to say that I hate his voice, it is so whiny!!)

I was not too big of a Monica fan, but so far I don't think she's pissed anyone off too much--other than over strategizing or worrying--so she could very well get the votes if she makes it to FTC. In this season there is really no one that is an obvious choice to take as a most disliked person to the final. Depending on what happens from here on out, unless somebody really turns into a jerk, it could be a difficult vote at the end.

Ciera has stepped up as far as actually playing the game now. I don't think she threw the challenge as she doesn't seem to be able to do well in the challenges either physically or puzzle-wise. I think she's mainly lucked out so far until now. Her tricking Katie was really well done though, I give her credit for that one. I would have thought Katie would stuck to her story at least a little longer, but who knows how much was edited out.

Definitely an interesting season. Kind of nice that there is no one, now that Colton is gone, who is completely reviled and makes you want to turn it off!

passed on the food. She seems like the kind of person who wouldn't eat that in her normal life let alone after existing off rice and coconuts and I can't say I blame her. It might make you feel sick. I think if she had won some roast chicken and vegetables, there would have been a different outcome.

I felt a little pang of joy for Vytas because it seems he has always been the brother in the shadow.
