Last Ship. Any takers?

Sort of a cross between World War Z, Contagion and Outbreak all wrapped up in a nice little US Navy infomercial...

And yet...i kinda want to see where it's going....

Anyone else?

I think Eric Dane's acting is kind of wooden so far, but the story line intrigues me, so I'm going to stick with it for a few more episodes anyway to see where it's going.

The gunshots, explosions, whirring of helicopter blades, and rumbling of the ship's engines did come across beautifully on my external speakers, though.

But yeah, Navy Infomercial about sums it up.

The concept is intriguing, but the writing isn't great and the acting can't be great without good material.

I think the networks throw out a bunch of stuff in the summer just to see what sticks to the wall.

The dialogue can be really bad and really cheesy at points.

Navy commercial is one way to describe it. Or the rah rah Navy
talk would have fit well into the types of shows I saw as a child
in the early to mid 60s.

Some of the plot premises have been interesting, but spoiled by the dialogue a bit.

Hubby couldn't understand at all why big guns weren't used instead of little explosives
in the last show; the entire premise of being stuck struck him as odd and I had to agree.

but the dialogue is stiff. It's becoming somewhat formulaic. I'm not sure what I want to see, but so far, it seems to be like watching the same episode over and over. But, I'll probably keep watching. I watch On Demand and view it at my convenience during the day.

I don't care about any of the characters. I'm 2 episodes behind and don't feel motivated to catch up.

There are several shows where technical flaws are just about as gross, and all I do is chuckle because the characters have drawn me into the story. I had not really recognized the issue until you pointed it out. The technical nonsense is noticable because I don't give a crap about the characters.

kinda like it. Something to watch during the summer. I wouldn't miss it if it were cancelled.
