Wow, lots of rain around Douglas!

DOUGLAS AIRPORT HAS RECEIVED 7.85
INCHES OF RAIN SO FAR THIS MONTH. THIS MAKES JULY THE WETTEST MONTH
ON RECORD...DATING BACK TO 1948. THE PREVIOUS WETTEST MONTH WAS
AUGUST 1959. WE ARE ONLY TWO WEEKS INTO JULY SO HITTING 8 INCHES
THIS MONTH IS WELL WITHIN THE REALM OF POSSIBILITY.

from NWS current forcast discussion, http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=TWC&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1

I haven't done my totals yet, but it sure isn't almost 8 inches

we did have 1.65 at the house in the last 24 hours, but just 2 1/2 miles to the SW we only had 32/100ths.

They're even saying tornadoes are possible. I'm skeptical.

We got enough rain yesterday to get the creek behind work flowing. It's dry today, though.

I'm hoping that means the Dynastes beetles will emerge early this summer. They usually wait until late August, just about the time fall semester starts, so I don't get to collect them. But I'll be in northern AZ in about a week or so. Maybe I'll be lucky.

An AZ oak borer in the Cerambycidae if I'm not mistaken. If it is raining up in the mountains I'll hold onto hope that Dynastes and Plusiotis are emerging.

we get the brown ones

My other post is the Crioprosopus magnificus -Texas Canyon Longhorn (and not my photo), we get collectors every summer for them and other stuff (some kind of tiger beetles off the Wilcox Playa, some flower beetles, various scarabs) but these are special since we are the original location for the type specimen.

Somebody found one on Sunday. I have never seen them.
