Related: About this forumRon Barber Votes with Republicans Against Obamacare.
by Denise Early on Jul. 19, 2013
The purpose of this blog is to inform people about Obamacare. I did not intend to get into the
politics of Obamacare, but I am very disappointed that Ron Barber voted with Republicans to
delay the employer and individual mandates that are part of the Affordable Care Act.
He is my Congressman. I voted for him.
First, the president already issued an order delaying the mandate that companies with over 50
employees provide health insurance in 2014. There was no need for Congress to do anything.
Second, Ron Barber knows this vote is just another Republican attack on the Affordable Care Act.
Its not about improving the law. Its about trying to kill it.

During the 2010 campaign, I got to talk with Gabby Giffords and I thanked her for her vote
for the Affordable Care Act. Remember, the Tea Party and Jesse Kelly were viciously attacking
Gabby for her support of the bill. Many Democrats lost in 2010 because of their votes for
Obamacare. Gabby told me it was a tough vote because the issue was so contentious. But she
said it was probably the most important vote she had taken as a Congresswoman. I was so
impressed by her courage and that she did not run away from her vote during the 2010 campaign.

(32,136 posts)Congress does in fact need to do something if the delay is to be legal. If big business gets a delay so should individuals get the same. Why should big business be treated better than individuals?
