back in 1973, some of the locals thought a nuke had exploded on the ranch

one of the captions mentions windows breaking in a house 5 miles away. that was my grandparents house, where I now live. there are still several train cars buried near the site and a few of years ago a Border Patrol agent trying to track some migrants (OMG they actually got out of their vehicles back then!) found a live bomb a hundred yards off the righ-of-way. bomb squad came and detonated it. somewhere I have some pictures of that small crater.

still lots of shrapnel around, occasionally a cow gets crippled from the sharp metal.

we came down from Tempe right after this and my Father took some pictures too, I will have to see if I can find them.
