Former Phoenix woman who stole $2.9 million sentenced to 44 months
A former Phoenix woman was sentenced to 44 months in prison for embezzlement on Tuesday, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Arizona said.
Shana Raelisa Johnson, 35, stole nearly $3 million from two real-estate companies, in both Phoenix and Atlanta, according to a U.S. Attorney's Office press release.
She was arrested in February in Atlanta and pleaded guilty to wire-fraud charges after being charged in the embezzlement scheme, officials said.
Johnson worked as an accountant at a property-management company in Phoenix from 2008-14, officials said. While employed in Phoenix, the woman issued fraudulent checks and made unauthorized electronic transfers from her employers bank accounts, totaling $2.4 million, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
