Ducey, GOP leaders abandon sanctuary cities constitutional ban

In his state of the state speech less than six weeks ago, Gov. Doug Ducey said one of his priorities for 2020 was a constitutional amendment banning sanctuary cities in Arizona. Now, amid opposition from civil rights groups and the business community, the governor says the legislation he helped author to do just that is dead.

“The governor stands firmly with the people of Arizona in opposition to sanctuary cities — a California-style policy overwhelmingly rejected by voters in Tucson last fall,” said Patrick Ptak, a spokesman for Ducey. He added that the governor “will continue to oppose any effort to create sanctuary cities.”

Andrew Wilder, a spokesman for the Republican majority caucus in the House of Representatives, said in a statement that the decision to kill the proposed constitutional amendment was “made jointly” by Ducey and Republican legislative leaders.

“Sanctuary cities are illegal in Arizona. It will remain that way, and our members will remain vigilant to keep these bad policies out of Arizona,” he added.

...forced to back his lying, duplicitous ass down.

Vote. Every. Republican. Out. Of. Office.
Every Office. Every State. Every Republican*.
None of them deserves re-election.
All of them are guilty of subverting democracy.
Nothing will ever get better in the U.S. until the GOP* is gone!

I can not think of a single republican member who deserves respect. Not one of them thinks for themselves, all in lockstep with the orange ass in the WH. What are they afraid of? He is a coward, who would back down in a New York minute if anyone (even a female) confronted him. All bluff and bluster, no substance at all. Wimpy blow dried, bouffant hairdo, spray tan or makeup. What a dandy!!! He is fond of calling people "little" while he wears lifts in his shoes. They make him look as though he is about to topple over, but he thinks he is fooling people into thinking he is taller. What a JOKE. Actually, he is a disgrace to this country. I for one am ashamed that such a disaster ever entered the WH.

"Disgrace" is almost too good for describing him AND his cult members (let's not call them "supporters" or "followers" any longer - they're cult members).

Even though neither you or I had anything to do with putting him in office, I too am ashamed of my country. Somehow, some way we need to get the cult members back under the rocks where they belong. Maybe if we remove him they'll all go back to their pathetic little lives.
