Driverless taxis to be available in Phoenix 'in weeks'

Published 57 minutes ago

People in Phoenix, Arizona will soon be able to order a driverless taxi, as Google expands its Waymo service.

Vehicles with no human driver on board were previously tested by a select group of Waymo customers, before the pandemic halted the service.

The driver-free cars will initially be available only to friends and family of those early Waymo adopters, but will extend to all app users within weeks.

The service comes two years later than originally promised.

1. what is the point?

seems needlessly risky. Tired of these tech companies and their aggressive nonsense (these driverless idiocies and Muskmelon's zillion satellite nightsky zapper project)

4. Here we go again until a driverless car hits another pedestrian. And btw...

this virus won't last forever. I'll still take my chances with driving or taking an Uber.

5. Uber is aggressively anti-union & huge in lobbying

State governments.

Are we the pro worker party or not. If so what is the case for supporting anti union companies such as Uber?

6. You're right about that. I'll drive or take a regular cab. No driverless car for me.

So get to the other issue, that of driverless cars. What's your take on them?
