Indivisible group writes in to protest French Hill on impeachment

The Little Rock and Central Arkansas chapters of the activist group Indivisible have a gathering planned for this afternoon to write U.S. Rep. French Hill “to demand that he end his partisan attacks on the House impeachment inquiry, and instead support holding President Trump accountable for requesting foreign interference in our elections.”

The group will meet today from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Fassler Hall, at 311 E Capitol Ave. in Little Rock. Citizens will write letters to Hill and record video messages. They will be delivered to Hill’s office on Monday.

In a press release, Indivisible weighed in on Hill’s performance in recent weeks:

After weeks of letters and calls from Indivisible members, Congressman Hill’s office finally responded to their simple question: does he think it’s okay to ask a foreign power to interfere in American elections? “No, he does not,” said a staff member in his D.C. office.

Now Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, former White House official Fiona Hill, United States Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, and many others have testified in Congress, providing detailed evidence of Trump’s abuse of powers. And yet, Hill claims in a November 22 letter to an Indivisible member that Democrats have “doubled-down on a partisan process” and “they have completely lost sight of their responsibility to address important issues facing the American people.”

“We are appalled that our own President has placed his own political and personal gain over the security and interests of our country,” said James Cargile, a team leader with Indivisible LRCA. “Every member—Democrat and Republican—needs to remember the oath they took to protect the Constitution, and speak out publicly in this moment to say nobody is above the law.

Members of Congress took a sworn oath to protect our democracy from foreign interference. Therefore, Indivisible LRCA is demanding the Congressman end his partisan attacks on the process and instead respond to these facts that have been revealed:

• Trump pushed Ukraine to interfere in our 2020 elections.
• He used US military aid to pressure them to dig up dirt on his political opponent.
• Then, he tried to cover it up.
• If the average person did this, they’d go to jail.
