Garland County election building damaged by winter storm as early voting approaches, officials say election will continu

GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. — Early voting for the upcoming primary and judicial election is set to begin in just weeks, but Garland County election officials are working through an unexpected setback after last week’s winter storm caused significant damage to the county’s election commission building.

Ice buildup from the storm led to roof damage at the facility, where hundreds of pieces of voting equipment are stored.

Officials say despite the damage, early voting will move forward as scheduled.

The first warning signs came as water began pouring off the roof of the building, raising concerns about possible structural damage.
