May 27, 2015 (San Diego) We need freeways to move goods, services and people across the state. These are the most obvious pieces of infrastructure the State of California has.
The State of California releases every year a five-year plan, which is a long view of what are the infrastructure needs of the state. You can read the 2015 version here.
This report is a direct consequence of the 1999 California Infrastructure Planning Act. This requires the Governor to submit a five-year planning document with the budget.
The planning guidelines require infrastructure planning priorities to promote equity, strengthen the economy, protect the environment, and promote public health and safety.

Misery loves company and every citizen should go though these reports.
Word to the wise though, I found it easier to do markup on the Iphone than the computer. It has to do with the PDF. Tried a couple copies.

(38,958 posts)Missouris General Assembly adjourned this month without addressing a projected budget shortfall that transportation officials say will devastate the states roads and bridges over the next few years.
Despite widespread agreement that Missouris Department of Transportation is in dire need of new funding to maintain the nations seventh largest highway system, getting state lawmakers to agree on how to pay for it be it through increasing the sales tax, fuel tax, or cutting other state services is now the biggest challenge.

(154,021 posts)the gift that keeps on giving.
And Americans cannot make that connection. That road is not just falling apart just because.
Local example, our local hole in the budget to maintain stuff we already own is 1.4 BILLION dollars. The projected stadium cost, no overruns (RIGHT) will be 1.4 Billion dollars. It's almost poetic.
By the way, stuff is the highly technical term used by city staff during a hearing... I love 'em, even when, especially when, they talk down to members of the city council.

(38,958 posts)stadium projects that they want to "ram" through to keep the Rams here (with State and Local Money of course). Nothing like building a huge single use open air stadium right along the Mississippi River in North St. Louis. Gee, rivers never flood.... what could possibly go wrong with such a plan....

(38,958 posts)You "need" a Major League Football Team to be a Major League City...
So, we have been told and told and told.

I have been covering the mess with the chargers and I think they are leaving. Folks here are somewhat divided, the large majority that would help them pack, and the vocal minority... OUR BOLTS, OUR TEAM, GO TEAM!!!!

(38,958 posts)I did miss that point. I for one would hope the Rams slip out in the middle of the night the way the Football Cardinals did and never come back, but then all major league sports are of little interest to me. Those that find them entertaining, that's great as long as I don't have to hear about them or pay for them.

(154,021 posts)is far more interesting than the on the field, with refs games.
See the reaction to the FIFA scandal by a few here. It is down right bizarre, but what FIFA is doing is not that uncommon for major sports. Just insert league here. Just that FIFA really went overboard on that one.
I wonder how much (insert team here) will help pay for (insert mayor here) campaign? They know we are chums.
