I was signed up with VRBO, Homeway and TripAdvisor. I refused to sign up with AirBnB. I had heard that they were buying up apartment complexes in San Diego and were then kicking out all the tenants and turning each unit into a turnkey operation for travelers.

Rent here in San Diego is outrageous. I have family members and friends who cannot find a decent place to live. My 25 year old daughter is paying $750 plus utilities for a room in a private home where she has to share a bathroom. My other married daughter with 3 children is renting a 3 bedroom house for $2400 per month.

I decided to get out of the vacation rental business and now rent my furnished cottage (on my property) to a traveling nurse for 1/2 the price I was getting before.

Not only does San Diego need the law to be passed controlling AirBnb and vacation rentals, but we must get some reasonable rent control measures in place. If not, within 5 years, we might be like San Francisco.

Wow, I'm impressed with how you decided to put community over profits and now rent to a long-term tenant instead of tourists. Thank You!
