Related: About this forum4.5 earthquake just now in the San Francisco Bay Area
According to the USGS, it was centered just south of Pleasant Hill, in East Bay.
Here in San Francisco, I felt a sharp jolt, followed by pretty noticeable shaking. It was enough to get my heart pounding. As usual, I rushed to the USGS "Did You Feel It" website, to be a Citizen Earthquake Reporter. It's pretty active, with pre-and after-shocks.

Looking at the USGS map... some retirees in Walnut Creek Manor senior living facility probably had quite a jolt... right off of I-680 in Pleasant Hill

(17,083 posts)I'd been a little disdainful of Walnut Creek, 'till my son & family moved there. Now that I've been spending time there, I've developed a genuine liking for the place. Their 2½ year old daughter is quite at home downtown, and I can just project her into the future with her own gaggle of girlfriends, out and about.
They're a mile from the epicenter, and felt it quite strongly.
