Related: About this forumNewsom is slow dancing California - & I like it
I was born here (LA) but spent my first 30 years moving around the planet. I have spent the last 38 firmly planted on California soil. I love this crazy place. It has everything & lots of variety - the people, the geography, flora, fauna, the tastes and smells.
We have had our share of catastrophes; drought, fire, earthquakes, ronald reagan and now this.
Last week, I thought perhaps government officials (including Newsom) were feeling pressure and might act too quickly to open up. I think they have shelved their fears and slowed it down.
I listen to Newsom & our county supervisors every day and sometimes find the pace excruciatingly slow but thorough. I want information, as much information as possible. It takes me a while to process it all. Usually a long walk helps.
The governor's tactic seems to be: Stall for time.
I like it and I think it just might work.
Salud everyone,

(51,571 posts)Since the state is so Dem heavy that may have something to do with his actions. There are a lot of self absorbed and irresponsible people everywhere, including CA. We have had our fair share or ludicrous Right Wing nuts thumping their chests too (poor things can't go without an manicure...it is living Hell). I think he is caving into some of their pressure sometimes, but then he walks it back since it was not a safe move...so fuck the protesters. CA has plateaued and we need to be more strict in order to see a decline in the number of new cases.

I cant adequately express how grateful I am to live in a state with competent leadership. I dearly wish my friends across the country could have that too.

(2,193 posts)Antibody tests tell us if we've survived past infections, nasal indicate current infections, but neither one alone tell us both.
My results will be returned tomorrow.
No worries, low symptoms but higher than typical risk, testing was recommended for me having lost my spleen and had other surgeries.
Thanks, K!
