Gov Newsom closed bars in many county as Covid spreads

"Gov. Gavin Newsom on Sunday ordered bars that have opened in seven California counties to immediately close and urged bars in eight other counties to do the same, saying the coronavirus was rapidly spreading in some parts of the state."

"The counties under the mandatory bar closure order are: Los Angeles, Fresno, San Joaquin, Kings, Kern, Imperial and Tulare."

"State officials asked eight other counties — Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Sacramento, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara and Stanislaus — to issue local health orders closing bars."

"The order comes as California grapples with a rise in positive coronavirus cases, especially among younger adults, following social gatherings over Memorial Day weekend, reopened businesses in many places, including restaurants, fitness centers and hair salons, and widespread street protests against police brutality."

1. I don't know how,

but they need to find a way to seriously enforce this.

2. Some bars and restaurants that didn't enforce safety rules have been closed

around CA and given a two week suspension until they can prove they can reopen following state guidelines. Not enough of this has been done though.

3. Maybe if we empowered the Alcoholic Beverage Control

to revoke liquor licenses that would get their attention. But that's only bars. But then every business has some sort of license.
