CA extends unemployment due to Covid an additional 7 weeks.

Seven more weeks of unemployment benefits in California’s new budget plan...

"Millions of unemployed Californians could wind up with more weeks of jobless benefits as part of the budget deal Gov. Gavin Newsom and legislative leaders reached this week."

"The state legislation would authorize up to seven extra weeks of federally-funded emergency benefits, for a total of 20 weeks, if the state’s unemployment rate reaches a certain level considered the “high unemployment period” in the bill."

"That level would be hit if the average total unemployment rate reaches 8 percent for the most recent three months as determined by the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as other criteria."

1. If Calif is doing it, Oregon will. Let it be. I gotta tell you it is Trump and Republicans that have

created this mess and now they tell us because of their poor handling of a deadly virus to go back out there and work with the numbers rising. It is everything wrong.

Reading further, there are all types of conditions which I did not understand.

8. I recall when I was out of work

in the early 90s when a recession was bad and I had been laid off every time the recession got bad (the Reagun and Bush #1 years) and decided to go back to college and get another degree (my art degree did not help pay bills).

Unemployment benefits were for 6 months and Clinton extended them 6 more months, allowing me to get a degree and earn money as a substitute until the economy improved and I got a permanent job. The Dems give us help, the GOP only takes and takes and takes. I had a feeling Newsom and the state Dems would help workers out. Good thing we live in CA.

11. That must be from the original 13 plus additional 7.

That's all I can figure without studying it more.

OK, here it is...
"The state legislation would authorize up to seven extra weeks of federally-funded emergency benefits, for a total of 20 weeks" from the first article.
