Because of coronavirus, no hospital was able to accept her. She died after 12 hours of waiting.

For this story, I traveled to Joshua Tree to meet Billy Folsom. On Dec. 7, he rushed his wife Kim to a small hospital. The doctor tried to transfer her to a bigger place. Because of coronavirus, no hospital was able to accept her. She died after 12 hours of waiting

1. Unfortunate, but many foresaw these types of events occurring.

Her death won't be recorded as being related to COVID, but the facts show that it was.

2. Happened to my BIL last week. Rushed to the hospital ER with sepsis, waited hours to be seen.

Doctor told him he was treated just in time, would have been fatal if delayed any longer.

No rooms available, put him in makeshift ward near the cafeteria.

Hoping he will be OK. No visitors except his wife, who is aghast at how sick he is.

He is undergoing chemo, and the theory is that infection was introduced through his chemo port.

For people who are ignoring symptoms because they are afraid to see their doc or go to the hospital.

4. An example of a cause of "excess deaths":

See the link. For every 100 official covid-19 deaths, there are another 38 deaths beyond the normal death rate.

Some of this is labeling the death as some other cause, but some of it is that the logistics of a pandemic screws up treatment for unrelated ailments.

People aren't going in when they otherwise would. When they do go in, there are fewer resources than usual. Many doctors have retired early to avoid dealing with it.
