My daughter has been on CA UI since last summer. In December, her claim was suspended as CA EDD launched their effort to root out bogus claims. A few weeks ago, she submitted proof of ID and had a phone conversation with an EDD agent (after waiting in the phone queue for FIVE HOURS!) as part of that process. That interview supposedly resolved the issue.
Since then, she has reopened her claim three times through the CA EDD online system. The system acknowledges that her request to reopen her claim has been received. Then, on every Sunday, the system asks her once again to reopen her claim, as if she had not already done so.
This is getting ridiculous. Has anyone else had this problem? Id have her call CA EDD but the low-level functionaries they have manning their phones dont seem to have the access or authority to do much more than fill out a report and send it up the chain of command, which is in my experience a dead zone of impressive size.
Ideas?

(2,563 posts)It's probably not Newsom's fault, but people I know are madder about this than CV-19 response inconsistency.

(24,396 posts)but so far she hasnt been able to do anything beyond offering generic answers.
The EDD problems are so massive in CA that individual problems are small fry in comparison. For instance, my daughter was receiving benefits and she has had the phone call to resolve the situation, while thousands of Californians havent been able to get past Step One of applying for benefits, and have been waiting months to see ANY money coming their way.
