Related: About this forumLeo Carrillo Beach this afternoon (Pics)
I happened to stop just north of Malibu at Leo Carrillo Beach and all I had was my smartphone but I managed to snap these three pics showing the gorgeous day we were having this last day of February.
Treasure hunting in the tidepools.
Lonely lifeguard tower.
Bird rock.

(11,417 posts)One day a girl with a pomegranate walked up to me and sat down and shared her pomegranate with me. I shared some weed with her.
It was a nude beach then and the red
juice on her tan skin was very sensual. Life was good in the early 80's.

(51,520 posts)Although I don't remember it ever being a nude beach, what with it being a state park beach and all. But I guess on a warm winter day like yesterday, with nobody in the lifeguard tower and the beach pretty empty...

(11,417 posts)Lawrn Green use to own the apartment building above the beach and he did not mind nude people but after he died the law would come and harass us. I have not been there for over 25 years.

(11,417 posts)in the early 80's. There was point Dume in Malibu and Pirates Cove in the South County along with Venice and some more I can't remember the names of. The 70's was the heyday of nude beaches in LA County. Blacks in San Diego was designated as a nude beach by the city council in the 70's. Like other things in the early 80's religious conservatives squelched anything they saw as sin and the nude beaches disappeared. People went north to Ventura county and Leo Carrillo beach is were they gathered until that got closed too.

(1,406 posts)I was on orders to the West Coast and was away from my family for over a month at that point. Took a ride and stopped at Leo C beach, called my wife on my cell, she was on the beach with the kids on the east coast. So I told her to get her and the kids together and go in the water and I did the same. We were swimming in the Ocean together as family, a little separated but it did not feel that way. I will never forget that or Leo C beach.

(51,520 posts)No the thanks should go to you. The pictures were wonderful and it was you who brought the memory to the front of my mind today.
That is a rare treat to have a great warm memory sprung forth and recreate a good time in life, and wash away the BS of a tough week of work.
A Bad day at the Beach still beats a Good Day at Work.
