Culver City Democrats United Election Endorsements

With the Los Angeles city election almost one year away Culver City Democrats United has issued their first round of endorsements. Fy City of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Los Angeles City Attorney Hydee Feldstein-Soto received early endorsements. Culver City Measure CL received a plurality but did not reach the threshold for endorsement.

RESULTS:

Re-election of L.A. Mayor Karen Bass: 65.0%

Re-election of L.A. City Attorney Hydee Feldstein-Soto: 83.4%

Culver City Measure CL: 52.6%

1. Measure CL explained

Culver City will hold a Special All-Mail Ballot Election on Tuesday, August 26, for one ballot measure. The election is for one general tax ordinance to be submitted to the qualified voters that imposes a general sales tax at the rate of 1/4-cent per dollar.

If approved, Measure CL would provide funding for City services including: maintaining three fully staffed fire stations/ 911 emergency response times; retaining firefighters, paramedics, police officers; homeless reduction services/ encampment prevention; improving parks/ fields; repairing potholes/ streets/ storm drains; senior/ youth services and other General Fund uses, by enacting a ¼ cent sales tax, providing approximately $5,600,000 annually until ended by voters. This also requires all funds be locally controlled Unlike the previous sales tax increase the voters approved this measure has no sunset provision v would be permanent.
