San Benito recall process questioned as election officials face scrutiny

HOLLISTER, Calif. — The recall process in San Benito County is being questioned, and election leaders are now under fire following recall attempts against county supervisors Ignacio Velazquez and Kollin Kosmicki.

“These processes need to be cleaned up. We have to make sure, as a county, that we have faith in the integrity of the election process,” said Supervisor Kosmicki.

Supervisor Kosmicki was the recent target of a notice of intent to recall. An email sent to him from the elections office stated, “Our office completed the validation of the Notices of Intention to Recall Supervisor Kosmicki.

The filing meets the legal requirements outlined in California Elections Code 11020, allowing the recall process to move forward.”
