West Hollywood Council Member Chelsea Byers (D) Officially Announces Run for Re-Election
West Hollywood council member and former mayor Chelsea Byers officially announced Thursday that she is running for re-election, touting a record focused on housing affordability, climate action and expanded social services.
Byers, first elected four years ago, said her administration has emphasized a “data-driven, people-centered approach” to local governance while working to address challenges facing working families in the city.
“With your support, we’ve been able to protect tenants and create new affordable housing to make West Hollywood more livable for working families,” Byers said in her campaign announcement.
She pointed to several accomplishments during her term, including the adoption of an Equitable Building Performance Standard aimed at modernizing buildings, lowering residents’ energy costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. She also highlighted a $1 million increase in the city’s social services budget, which she said expanded support for seniors, LGBTQ+ residents and community members facing financial hardship.
