A conservative California county is trying to kill mail-in voting

Northern California’s Shasta county, best known for its radical conservative politics and thriving election-skeptic movement, appears on track for another clash with the state over a newly approved ballot measure that would transform local elections.

In last Tuesday’s election, the majority of voters in the rural county backed Measure B, which requires elections to be held in person on a single day and limits who can cast an absentee ballot – effectively putting an end to vote by mail – while also requiring photo ID and a hand count.

The proposed changes outlined in the measure would make it harder for residents to vote – about 85% of county residents cast their ballots by mail – and also appear to violate California law, according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California and the local and state chapters of the League of Women Voters.

“Measure B also plainly violates state law and exposes county taxpayers to significant litigation costs – all in pursuit of a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist,” a statement from the organization reads.

I roll my eyes at that deer in the headlights look when one tries to explain that krasnov and his gang are most assuredly NOT conservatives.

Trump's MAGA is Fascist at its roots.

The problem, unfortunately, is that the Fascist media would use our use of "Fascist" as some kind of "proof" that we, not they, are the radical extremists. The fuc*ing fascists can still pretend to be shocked, I tells ya, shocked that any Liberal-Communist would call them what they are in public.

But I cannot and will not use the term "conservative" to characterize these bastards. I like the term MAGA as more clearly representing the American brand of what destroyed Germany and Italy in the 20's through 40's. It is, after all, a term the Fascist Right embraces -- so they can't pretend shock and horror at the Liberal use of it to identify them --, but it is one that one that also clearly reeks of the stink of "Fascist" -- with Nazi at its not distant fringes.

I think Mr. Burke would accept it, with a conservative smile.

Then let’s make access uniform across all precincts. Every precinct should have the same number of registered voters say 2,000. If a county only has that many registered voters it only has 1 polling site by law. If it takes 30 minutes for you to drive to the polls and 2 gallons of gas for your pickup to get you there that’s a “you” problem.

Tired of these shenanigans. Long lines at urban polling sites because you’ve got 5 times as many people as rural polling sites is a crime IMHO.
