Kudos to outdoor workers

My oh my, we're almost through it, but it was 105 in my neighborhood today. I had to go to the grocery store which was heavenly cool, and at the impulse display by the register, I grabbed a Hershey bar to reward myself for getting what we needed. Took a few steps outside with half the wrapper off, and had to return inside immediately - it was melting in my free hand!

So, to the letter carriers, gardeners, construction workers, crossing guards, trash collectors, police, fire fighters, movers, ambulance drivers, delivery people, roofers, tree trimmers, street vendors, and everyone else I've overlooked who works outdoors, kudos and THANK YOU for helping our citizens get through this horrific heat and humidity. May it be gone and never to return for the duration of this year!

Hugemongeous thunderstorms. Not in the mountains where you would expect them, they didn't have any, but in La Mesa, Kearney Mesa and Mission Valley. It did not cool things off in the least; temps were still in the 90's after the storms passed.

Huge trees down everywhere, crushing cars and blocking freeways and streets. Nobody reported hurt, but Northbound 163 completely blocked at Washington Street, big tree down across all three lanes. Balboa flooded and one direction blocked by a downed tree. I-8 partially blocked in Mission Valley by downed tree. La Mesa several cars crushed by huge trees down, trunks 3-4 feet in diameter.

The media is implying that there are no trees left standing in San Diego County, but they may be engaging in a little bit of hyperbole.

Interesting times. Global warming is a myth and all that.

fierce storms that leave all that damage, and then humidity. Late yesterday in L.A., we got some cloud cover, and huge, puffy clouds over the mountains that looked like the end of the world. But not a drop of rain. Trees down is such a bumber - we need all the trees we can get.
