Connecticut GOP Boss: Union Owes Us Apology For Altercation Before Gubernatorial Debate
Connecticuts top Republican is seeking an apology from the states largest labor federation for what he characterized as thuggish behavior by a union activist toward two women affiliated with the state GOP outside Wednesday nights gubernatorial debate in New London.
State GOP Chairman J.R. Romano said he was forced to intervene in the scrum, which was caught on video and showed a shoving match between an unidentified man and two women.
One of the women is a staffer for the Connecticut Republicans and the other is a volunteer for the partys gubernatorial nominee, Bob Stefanowski, said Romano, who declined to give their names.
He said the Connecticut AFL-CIO and its president Lori Pelletier, who was also in the crowd outside the Garde Arts Center, need to condemn the actions of the union activist.
