State Extends Bidding for Hartford Office Tower After Initial Proposals Fall Short
Dissatisfied with bids it has received so far, the state has extended the deadline for proposals to buy the state-owned office tower at Capitol Avenue and Sigourney Street in Hartford.
The state had set a deadline of Sept. 14, but the bids fell short, mostly on price, said Jeffrey Beckham, a spokesman for the state Department of Administrative Services, which is handling the sale.
We havent had a proposal that we believe is acceptable, Beckham said. We are trying to get the best deal for the taxpayer.
The 20-story tower is being marketed by the state without an asking price. Beckham said the state has evaluated several proposals but declined to be more specific, including what prices were offered and the details of proposals, citing confidentiality.
