The CT GOP is trying to move Bridgeport out of CT-4

John McKinney and Larry Cafero are trying their best Bull Connor imitations.

Activists from southwestern Connecticut are urging the legislative panel charged with redrawing the state's congressional boundaries to oppose a Republican proposal to move the city of Bridgeport out of the 4th congressional district.

Local representatives from MoveOn.org and Democracy for America submitted a petition Monday with nearly 1,900 signatures to the committee, which met throughout the day behind closed doors.

The group said moving the state's largest city into the 3rd District, which includes New Haven, would dilute the voice of Bridgeport residents and minority voters. But House Minority Leader Lawrence Cafero said the proposal ends "the vestiges of the wholesale gerrymandering."

How can you logically take Bridgeport out of the 4th district and put it in with New Haven without taking all the towns in between (Fairfield, Trumbull, etc?)
