Superintendent: No, EVSC doesn't provide litter boxes for students who identify as cats

Mark Wilson

EVANSVILLE ? The woman at the other end of a leash held by retired teacher Ruth Baize didn't say much, other than an occasional "meow."

"This is Theresa, who identifies as 'Cotton Candy,'" Baize said.

Baize and Theresa Finn addressed the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. Board on Monday about social media rumors that the school district is allowing students to dress and behave as animals, even providing litter boxes in bathrooms.

It's not true, EVSC officials say and they have taken to the school's social media accounts to say so.

Anything to disrupt and demean public education, so privatization can creep in.

As a retired teacher of 33 years, I know that schools and school boards have REAL problems. Idiots sharing this rumor on social media are just adding unnecessary nonsense.

If you google "furries & litter boxes", posts come up from MANY states and the rumors are all debunked.

I had to talk to a neighbor for 20 minutes to try to convince her that this isn't true. Of course, the alleged litter boxes are never in their own district. She claimed they were in Cobleskill. Cobleskill residents claim they are in St. Johnsville. Gloversville claims they are in Amsterdam. Broadalbin claims they are in Ballston Spa. A local business owner said that I must be happy I'm retired so I don't have to deal with the litter boxes. (sigh) Another business owner said his buddy was going to go to the Ballston Spa board meeting to complain. (He does not even live in that district)

are always a bit out of focus. ---wouldn't surprise me to see a couple'a litter boxes in the girls' room. Cousin runs a local pet shop....Says the school district has a standing order per month, for a box of those mouse toys, filled with catnip.

Yes, Jean, its sarcasm.

this BS has been thoroughly repudiated (repeatedly). It's time that these nutters are publicly shamed - slammed with wasting public time and resources - rather than humored and accommodated. Enough!
