Protesters opposing the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court gathered early Monday morning on Capitol Hill, where Barrett faces her first day of confirmation hearings in the Senate.
Wearing white overalls, masks and gloves, a crowd of demonstrators chanted no COVID test, no hearing! criticizing the Senates decision to proceed with Barretts hearings
without coronavirus testing, despite the recent positive COVID-19 tests of two GOP senators, Sen. Mike Lee of Utah and Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina.
Out in front of the Supreme Court, where protesters are gathering to oppose the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who will face the first day of confirmation hearings today in the Senate. Many are in plastic coveralls, masks and gloves a nod to the still-raging pandemic.
The protestors were met with opposition from anti-abortion demonstrators as they made their way to the Hart Senate building. Before 9 a.m., the protesters attempted to block the entrance to the Dirksen Senate building. Several were apparently arrested by Capitol Police.
Capitol Police did not immediately return DCists request for comment on the arrests.
