This is unusual but still dangerous. A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued

for a burst of wind to pass through DC region through around 5:15 pm Friday. There is little rain and no thunder with this, but it's essentially a wall of wind which unleashed 60 mph gusts around Hagerstown and Martinsburg and 71 mph gust in Charles Town, W. Va. Stay inside while this passes.

I lived in Silver Spring when the 2012 Derecho knocked out power for 7 days. People overseas didn't believe such a thing could happen in the US.

Glad I didn't suffer like that, was either in Hagerstown or MoCo or Calvert; guess I should get my calendars organized.
