#wmata escalators *and stairs* are out of service at Judiciary Square - they did a huge project ...

My entrance, at my Metro stop, back when I "went to work." The last time I was there, the down escalator to trains headed to Shady Grove was out. I was lugging a bunch of stuff too.

"An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You should never see an 'Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order' sign, just 'Escalator Temporarily Stairs.'" - Mitch Hedberg

#wmata escalators *and stairs* are out of service at Judiciary Square - they did a huge project a year ago to add the stairs so there'd be redundancy if an escalator went out

Escalators could be missing steps during maintenance or something. What's wrong with the stairs?

This is the exit at the southeast end of the station, near where the statue of Albert Pike used to be. If you were headed to MPD HQ, you'd use this exit.

All it had was two escalators. No elevators, and no stairs. WMATA has been changing that, but the work has been going on for a long time. When the picture was taken, passengers had to use the stopped escalator going both up and down.

You can see in the middle where the stairs are going to be.
