This is my experience with an iPhone upgrade.
When you transfer your iPhone, everything seems to transfer. However, the SmarTrip card didn’t transfer and I didn’t notice until after I deleted it and traded it in.
From SmarTrip customer service:
Apple does not have transit cards setup to transfer from one phone to another when transferring other data. To add your card to your new device, first you will need to have your old device and remove the card from the Apple Wallet.
Since you are unable to remove the card from the old device, you will need to get a new virtual card for your new device. Then from the online account in a web browser, not the SmarTrip app, you can report card as lost and transfer the funds to the new virtual card.”
