Area near Supreme Court reopens after man arrested there in October returns

WASHINGTON (7News) — The area outside the Supreme Court was closed off for more than 20 minutes Thursday morning after a man who was arrested in October after illegally parking in front of the Court returned, U.S. Capitol Police said.

According to USCP, Dale Paul Melvin of Kimball, Mich. parked his Chevy Tahoe in front of the Court again.

"Our investigators are talking to him now. Out of an abundance of caution, we have closed off the area," USCP tweeted earlier.

USCP Chief Tom Manger said agents spotted concerning language related to his presence at the Supreme Court on a social media account believed to belong to Melvin.

2. Because in the United States there is a presumption of innocence, and all bail means is that

he's likely to show up for his trial.

As far as I know, all they have on him today is parking in a zone where parking is not allowed and, I suppose, a violation of the terms of his release.

3. This type of crime would usually result in a stay away order but maybe not in this case.

If there was no stay away order, there should have been one for condition of release. He implied that he intended to do damage to the court, the library and the Capitol, and assaulted a cop when he was being arrested..... Below is from his first arrest. Today's disruption is a little more than a parking ticket issue based on previous events.

The United States Capitol Police arrested a man after he illegally parked in front of the Supreme Court and refused leave.

In August, the same man came to the Capitol Complex and made concerning statements.

The man, who has been identified as 55-year old Dale Paul Melvin of Kimball, MI (DOB: 9/4/66), was arrested for Failure to Obey and Assault on a Police Officer.

"I would like to express my appreciation for all of our officers as well as the Supreme Court Police officers,” said Deputy Chief Jason Bell of the USCP’s Operational Services Bureau. “Everybody did an outstanding job to keep our Congressional Campus safe.”

At approximately 9:30 am, USCP officers saw Melvin’s illegally parked Chevy Tahoe in front of the Supreme Court.

The suspect appeared to be frustrated, refused to talk to our officers, and said, “The time for talking is done.”

Officers cleared the area out of an abundance of caution.

USCP crisis negation officers tried to speak with the suspect, but he refused to talk.

At approximately 11:00 am, the USCP Containment and Emergency Response Team, which is similar to a SWAT team pulled the man from the SUV.

The vehicle is still being searched, but so far no weapons have been found.

At this time, we do not expect additional news releases about this arrest.

When this fucking nut decided to return. Hopefully this violates the conditions of his release and they lock him up.
