WASHINGTON (WJLA) A man is dead after being shot by U.S. Secret Service agents at the Peruvian ambassador's home in Northwest D.C. early Wednesday morning, D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee said.
Chief Contee said police responded to a burglary in progress at the Peruvian ambassador's residence located in the 3000 block of Garrison Street Northwest shortly before 8 a.m. and found a man in the backyard of the home.
Agents discovered that the intruder had smashed out several windows of the residence, Chief Contee said. Agents then approached the intruder, who police said was holding a metal stake, and used their taser to stop him.
When tasers did not take effect, agents fired shots at the individual, Chief Contee said.
