At least 36 Leon County Schools teachers have resigned since August

Since before students returned to Leon County Schools on Aug. 31, 36 teachers resigned their positions, according to school district spokesman Chris Petley.

All the resignations happened in August, Petley said last week, noting the district does not know teachers' reasons for resigning.

At a Sept. 8 School Board meeting, the first since classrooms reopened, Leon Classroom Teachers Association (LCTA) President Scott Mazur told board members that teachers had started resigning from their positions within the first week back. LCTA is Leon County's teachers' union.

Mazur told board members teachers had begun putting in their two-week notices on Friday of the first week of students being back.

Since the administrators in the district don't have a clue as to why all of those teacher resigned, they might look at this story which appeared the same day in the Tallahassee Democrat.

I urge the Leon County Schools to contact me so I can send my address where they can forward my check for the awesome analysis that I provided.

Reason......is the reason.

No one in their right mind would be doing this. So teachers being the sensible one's as usual
Are doing it for you.

Asking kids to back to school right now is unreasonable. Not to mention inhumane.

Just west of Leon County. She taught remotely last spring but when they gave the info on how they would proceed with teaching in person this year, she took a sabbatical. She may not return to teaching, though she loves it. She's just too worried about her exposure with the lack of concern the school board has for their students and their teachers.

Another reason is that her father is vulnerable - he's had heart problems all his life and now it looks as though he is into congestive heart failure. His lungs keep filling with fluid, he goes into the hospital, they clear him up and then the cycle happens again. So far he has tested negative for Covid-19 but if he gets it, that will finish him. She does not want to be the one to give it to him.
